Dwight Howard aims to ‘shut people’s mouths’ with his play in Charlotte

The Dwight Howard saga continues with the veteran center on the move once again. Howard was recently traded during the NBA offseason from the Atlanta Hawks to the Charlotte Hornets, and he’s got big plans for the future while playing on Michael Jordan’s squad.

Apparently, Howard has grown tired of all the talking being done by his many critics. Dwight wants to change the narrative as he starts fresh with the Hornets, via ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

“Cliff’s going to push me, but he’s not going to ever be one of those guys who I would say would break my spirit,” Howard told ESPN. “He really believes in me. Throughout all the mess that has happened the last couple of years, this is a great opportunity for me to prove to myself that I know exactly who I am — to just shut people’s mouths.”

Howard has never really been able to reclaim his dominant form from his days with the Orlando Magic. After whatever rift went on between Howard and the Magic front office, the three-time Defensive Player of the Year has gone from the Los Angeles Lakers to the Houston Rockets to the Hawks and now with the Hornets.

The once-dominant center has become a locker room cancer of sorts with the veteran unable to find a stable situation in the NBA after being one of its elite players throughout most of his career.

Whether he’s able to defy the odds and silence his critics in Charlotte remains to be seen, but as he ages, the future is no longer bright for this once-promising seven-footer.
