Joe Flacco sidelined with neck injury after criticizing Broncos coaching
Joe Flacco has a hernia disc in his neck. It’s an injury that will cause the Denver Broncos quarterback to miss their next game Sunday. He’ll sit out against the Cleveland Browns, and there’s a chance he could miss the rest of the season.
“We’ll reevaluate after the bye and see where he’s at,’’ said Broncos head coach Vic Fangio in his day-after-game press conference Monday at the team’s training center.
Given the nature of Flacco’s injury, and the team’s 2-6 record with a rough schedule of opponents coming up after next week’s bye, it would be a surprise if Flacco takes any more snaps this season.

Joe Flacco was moving with a pronounced stiff neck after the Broncos’ 15-13 loss Sunday to the Indianapolis Colts. He completed 20 of 32 for 174 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions and afterward expressed frustrations the play calling wasn’t aggressive enough.
Acquired from the Baltimore Ravens during the offseason, Joe Flacco has put up just 1,822 yards with six touchdowns and five interceptions in eight starts this season. He’s leading the NFL’s 28th-ranked scoring offense.
With Brandon Allen starting next Sunday, rookie second-round pick Drew Lock could act as the backup. Fangio noted that he’s eligible to come off injured reserve and could be activated for the game.
