NFL Week 9 odds: Making a case for the favorites

The NFL Week 9 slate throws up some pivotal matchups. We take a look at some favorites bets for NFL Week 9

San Francisco 49ers (-9.5) at Arizona Cardinals

The 49ers haven’t lost yet, and their defense is absolutely terrifying. It might be hard for the Cardinals to allow less than six sacks, even with Kyler Murray’s mobility.

Houston Texans (-2) at Jacksonville Jaguars

This game is in London, so both teams are on the road. In a neutral setting, it’s always best to take the better quarterback. Deshaun Watson is playing at an MVP level.

Chicago Bears at Philadelphia Eagles (-5)

Have you seen Mitchell Trubisky? If Carson Wentz can play reasonable well, the Eagles should have no problem getting the win and cover.

Indianapolis Colts at Pittsburgh Steelers (EVEN)

We’ll act like the Colts are favorites considering they’re getting even odds on the road. Indianapolis is the better team and coming off a scare. Should be focused on this one.

Minnesota Vikings (-2.5) at Kansas City Chiefs

Minnesota could be catching the Chiefs without Patrick Mahomes. It’s the right time to play Kansas City, which is still good but nowhere near as scary without No. 15.

New York Jets (-5.5) at Miami Dolphins

If the Jets can win this game by a touchdown, just give up. Fold the franchise, move to an XFL market and rebrand.

Tennessee Titans at Carolina Panthers (-3.5)

The Panthers just gave up 51 points on the road to the 49ers. Now they come home, and they’ll be looking to take out their frustrations on a mediocre team.

Washington Redskins at Buffalo Bills (-10)

Buffalo was just beaten down by the Eagles. This is the time when a good team plays a bad one and sends a message. Huge red flag if the Bills can’t cover here.

Detroit Lions at Oakland Raiders (-2)

The Raiders are actually playing good football. If not for a superhuman effort from Deshaun Watson, Oakland is 4-3 and thriving. Look for the Raiders to get right at home.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Seattle Seahawks (-6.5)

Jameis Winston just turned the ball over three more times as I typed this sentence.

Cleveland Browns at Denver Broncos (-1.5)

The Broncos are at home. The defense might force Baker Mayfield into mistakes. That’s the hope here.

Green Bay Packers (-3) at Los Angeles Chargers

Green Bay is simply one of the two or three best teams in the league. Los Angeles beat the Bears last week, but that was basically a gift from Eddy Pineiro and Mitchell Trubisky.

New England Patriots (-3.5) at Baltimore Ravens

Until the Patriots lose a game, shame on anybody betting against them. Plus, you best believe Bill Belichick will have a scheme for Lamar Jackson’s legs.

Dallas Cowboys (-7) at New York Giants

The Giants are a tire fire. The Cowboys aren’t. Not the best analysis, but sometimes the simple answer is the best.
