NFL Playoffs: Atlanta Falcons Beat Seattle Seahawks
In what many consider to be the best football game of the weekend, in a weekend filled with classic football, the Atlanta Falcons defeated the Seattle Seahawks 30-28.
It looked as though the game was going to be a blowout in the end of the first half as the Falcons led the Seahawks 20-0. In the second half the Sehawks mounted a dramatic comeback. Rookie quarterback Russell Wilson repeatedly rolled out of the pocket and made plays to take the lead by one point with 21 seconds to play 28-27.
With 25 seconds left, Matt Ryan made two huge plays to get the Falcons in field goal territory.  Atlanta took the lead 30-28 after a successful field goal kick.
Their was eight seconds left and the Falcons squib kicked to avoid a big return. Unfortunately for the Falcons, The Seahawks special teams recovered the kick around mid-field giving the Seahawks a chance. It was unlikely that the Sehawks could win with eight seconds left, but with all the wild occurrences in this game no one was ready to count out the Seahawks just yet.
Wilson tossed a hail mary but it was intercepted in the end zone to end the game.
This is Matt Ryan’s first playoff win in his career and was an emotional one. He pumped his fist in the air and celebrated the huge win.
With this win, the Falcons will advance to the NFC Championship. The San Francisco 49ers defeated the Green Bay Packers 45-31 on Saturday to also advance. This sets up the Falcons versus the 49ers for the NFC Championship and a spot in the Super Bowl.
According to Bovada, of the four teams left in the playoffs the New England Patriots are the favorites to win the Super Bowl with 1/1 odds. The 49ers are next with 2/1 odds. Next, is the Falcons at 11/2 followed by the Baltimore Ravens at 15/2.
BetOnline.Com has already released the early odds and money line for the NFC Championship. The 49er are favored to win with a 3.5 point spread. Their money line is -180. The money line to bet on the Falcons is at +160. The over/under is at 48 points. The game will be this Sunday, January 20, on FOX at 3 p.m. ET.
