Amari Cooper rumors: 5 teams that should sign him
In a time of change for the Dallas Cowboys, Amari Cooper could be one of those on the way out. We take a look at 5 potential destinations.
5. Denver Broncos
The Broncos have a really nice start to their offensive arsenal. Phillip Lindsay is a quality back, Courtland Sutton is an emerging superstar on the outside, Noah Fans began to shine at tight end in the latter half of his rookie year, and Drew Lock flashed at quarterback. General manager John Elway would do well to sign Cooper and bring him into the fray as a 1A-1B combo with Sutton. The Broncos would suddenly go from a fringe playoff team to a popular pick in the AFC.

4. Green Bay Packers
Davante Adams is the only weapon Aaron Rodgers has in the passing game. For years, the Packers weren’t active in free agency, but under general manager Brian Gutekunst, they’ve dipped into the waters. Bringing in Cooper to pair with Adams would make it tough to double-team either, and would afford Rodgers the confidence of having a one-on-one matchup with a star on every play.
3. Buffalo Bills
The Bills were aggressive behind general manager Brandon Beane last year, signing receivers John Brown and Cole Beasley along with center Mitch Morse and tight end Tyler Kroft. After going 10-6 and still having loads of cap space, Buffalo should double down and continue to upgrade the offense. Cooper would immediately provide a top option for third-year quarterback Josh Allen, allowing Brown to be the deep threat with Beasley working out of the slot. Add Cooper, and Buffalo might be the favorite in the AFC East.

2. Miami Dolphins
Miami has to be thinking about the future, but also be keeping an eye on the present. General manager Chris Grier has done well to add draft capital while holding onto cap space. If the Dolphins are going to draft a first-round quarterback in Justin Herbert or Tua Tagovailoa, they have to throw the ball to somebody. Cooper is young enough to be part of the next winning wave in Miami.
1. Dallas Cowboys
This is the easiest case to make. The Cowboys gave up a first-round pick to the Oakland Raiders for Amari Cooper in 2018, and he’s been terrific since coming over. Dallas can’t afford to give up such premium capital and then allow Cooper to hit free agency, even if it means paying more than what it would like. The Cowboys should have signed Cooper last offseason, or at least inked Dak Prescott to open up the franchise tag for Cooper. What a mess.
