Chargers QB Justin Herbert says Mike Williams is ‘about as special as it gets’
Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams has established himself as one of the game’s most dynamic big-play factors.
Williams put on that display against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 17 action after making a ridiculous catch near the sideline. The Clemson leaped up to grab a pass from quarterback Justin Herbert with his right hand, then twirled in mid-air and managed to get both of his feet in bounds before hitting the ground.

The entire sequence left Herbert amazed, and voiced nothing but praise for Williams after the game.
“I don’t know how anyone else does anything with that,†Herbert said, via Jim Alexander of the Los Angeles Daily News. “He’s about as special as it gets.â€
Although Williams has had his ongoing struggles with injuries throughout his career, his talent has shown through when he is on the field. He has become a legitimate big-play asset, but also a go-to option in crucial late-game situations, especially in the red zone.

All that alone is why the Chargers chose to sign him to a three-year, $60 million deal back in March. Williams is a significant factor in Los Angeles’ offensive game plan, and having him and fellow star wideout Keenan Allen healthy has helped the team find its groove before the playoffs.
The Chargers sit in a promising position to snag the fifth playoff seed after clinching a postseason spot last Monday. That would give them home-field advantage in the wild-card round against the Baltimore Ravens.
