Chiefs sign superstar tight end Travis Kelce to two-year extension
As the Kansas City Chiefs strive to earn a third straight championship, the franchise secured the long-term future of one of its key players.
The Chiefs agreed to a two-year extension worth $34.25 million with star tight end Travis Kelce. The deal includes $17 million fully guaranteed for the 2024 season and nearly the rest of it fully guaranteed by the third day of next year.

“Hard to put in words what Travis means to this organization, this city, and he was certainly a priority to adjust his contract for us and it was something that was important for Clark [Hunt]. So very fitting that Travis [is] now the highest-paid tight end in these two years,” general manager Brett Veach said Monday via ESPN.
Throughout much of his NFL career with the Chiefs, Kelce has been a significant part of the offensive game plan. He’s been star quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ favorite passing game target while establishing himself as one of the greatest tight ends in league history.
The 34-year-old was short 16 receiving yards of notching his eighth straight 1,000 receiving-yard campaign. Beyond that, he’s racked up nine Pro Bowl selections, four First-Team All-Pro nods, and been a key piece to the team winning three Super Bowls.

In his first 11 seasons, Kelce has 907 receptions for 11,328 receiving yards with 74 touchdowns. In 22 playoff games, he has league records with 165 catches for 1,903 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns.
The contract extension will allow him to potentially finish his entire first-ballot Hall of Fame career with the Chiefs.
