Jimmy Graham agrees to a three-year deal with Packers

The Green Bay Packers have been as busy as any team in the NFL on the eve of free agency. The team has added a big piece while also subtracting one of their best offensive weapons.

According to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky, the Packers have agreed to a long-term deal with veteran tight end Jimmy Graham while also parting ways with veteran wideout Jordy Nelson.

Aaron Rodgers will have to find a new favorite target because the Green Bay Packers have released Jordy Nelson. They are also adding tight end Jimmy Graham on a three-year deal worth roughly $30 million, sources tell ESPN.

The usually quiet Packers decided against the conservative approach in NFL free agency this year. It will hope to achieve the aim to upgrade the offensive side of the football. Although, releasing arguably Aaron Rodgers’ favorite target downfield is a questionable move. The addition of Graham might be a game changer. The team will need all the help it can get to compete in a tough NFC North division next season.

Along with Green Bay making some moves ahead of free agency, the Minnesota Vikings are on the verge of bringing in a franchise quarterback in the form of Kirk Cousins. Minnesota appears to have won the Cousins sweepstakes with the Denver Broncos, New York Jets, and Arizona Cardinals falling short.

Super Bowl Futures

The addition of Cousins to the division could make things that much more difficult for the Packers. Green Bay will be out for blood next season after missing the playoffs following Rodgers’ collarbone injury which basically derailed their 2017 campaign.

Despite the imminent signing of Cousins, the Vikings are still behind the Packers in the odds to win next season’s Super Bowl. Green Bay has only the Philadelphia Eagles ahead of them in the NFC with the New England Patriots expected to win it all.
