Jordan Love to Packers would be great fit in 2020 NFL Draft
Aaron Rodgers won’t like it if the Packers draft Jordan Love. In fact, he’d probably be furious. The Green Bay Packers are picking 30th-overall in the 2020 NFL Draft, which begins April 23rd and runs for two more days. General manager Brian Gutekunst could face the very intriguing choice of selecting a player who could become his future at the game’s most important position, or helping his future Hall of Fame quarterback by getting him another weapon.
In NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah’s latest mock draft, the Packers are taking Jordan Love. He’s the fourth quarterback off the board with Joe Burrow going first to the Cincinnati Bengals, followed by Justin Herbert to the Miami Dolphins and Tua Tagovailoa heading to the Los Angeles Chargers at Nos. 5 and 6, respectively.

Of course, Jordan Love may never get to the Packers at 30th. Green Bay could have the decision of taking him out of their hands by the mid-point of the first round, depending on how the selections shake out ahead of them.
However, if Jordan Love is available, the Packers have a legitimate choice on their hands. Love is a raw talent out of Utah State, having thrown for 20 touchdowns and 17 interceptions for the Aggies in 2019. Looking at his film, there’s plenty to love about his arm and athleticism, but the bad decisions and mechanics can use some time ripening on the proverbial vine.
With Rodgers signed in Green Bay for the next four years, Green Bay could conceivably allow Love to sit for a few seasons and then make a choice. If he looks ready to take over, perhaps move on from Rodgers whether it be release or trade. If Love appears to be headed towards bust town, Rodgers can continue playing and Gutekunst deals with a blown first-round choice. Won’t be the last time it happens.

Smart money says Gutekunst and the organization decides to play it safe. This is a generational receiver class — at least it is thought to be — and outside of Davante Adams, there’s not much on the Packers’ depth chart there. Getting another weapon for Rodgers would both make the Green Bay better immediately and all appease him.
Still, should Love be sitting and waiting for his phone to light up when the Packers are on the clock, there’s a tough decision to be made. The 2020 NFL Draft is only a few weeks away, but the tension is building and won’t dissipate any time soon.
