Mecole Hardman signs one-year deal to stay with Chiefs
As the Kansas City Chiefs look to become the first team in NFL history to repeat as Super Bowl champions, the franchise will attempt to do so with a key piece back in the fold.
Veteran wide receiver Mecole Hardman has inked a one-year deal to return to the Chiefs.
Kansas City acquired the 26-year-old midway through last season via a trade from the New York Jets. In six regular season games, he notched 14 receptions on 21 targets for 118 receiving yards.

His play was most pivotal in Super Bowl LVIII as he made three catches for 57 receiving yards and a touchdown. Hardman sealed the comeback win with a three-yard touchdown reception in overtime to lift the Chiefs past the San Francisco 49ers.
The Chiefs selected him with the 56th overall pick in the 2019 draft, where he spent his first four seasons before departing for the Jets last offseason. In five seasons, he has recorded 68 receptions for 2,212 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns in 68 regular season games.

Hardman’s return keeps the Chiefs a deep-ball threat in the passing attack that can be a factor in the running game.
Kansas City’s wide receiver room includes a couple of new faces with offseason signing Marquise Brown and first-round draft Xavier Worthy. The team also released Marquez Valdes-Scantling to make additional space.
With Mahomes under center, the Chiefs will have the opportunity to secure another championship. Kansas City has become the gold standard and will be the early Super Bowl favorites
