NFL Week 2 2022: A case for each favorite
With the first games of the season behind us, we look at the NFL Week 2 lines and determine how each favorite can win and cover.
Los Angeles Chargers at Kansas City Chiefs (-3.5)
Home opener, on a short week, for one of the league’s best teams, in the league’s loudest stadium. Tough spot for the Chargers.
New York Jets at Cleveland Browns (-6.5)
The Jets might still be without Zach Wilson. This is a game Cleveland needs Mohave if it wants to stay afloat until Deshaun Watson returns.
Washington Commanders at Detroit Lions (-1.5)
The Lions arguably have as much talent as the Commanders, and this is the rare time when Jared Goff isn’t outmatched by the opposing quarterback.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-3) at New Orleans Saints
This is always a tough game for the Bucs, with Tom Brady being 0-4 in the regular season against the Saints since joining Tampa Bay. Still, Brady is significantly better than Jameis Winston, and that’s the edge.
Carolina Panthers at New York Giants (-2.5)
Don’t touch this game, but the Giants are at home and Carolina is coming off an emotionally draining game against Cleveland.

New England Patriots (-1) at Pittsburgh Steelers
This is a head-scratching line, because the Steelers are at home and more talented. For the Patriots to win, they’ll need Mac Jones to be much better than Mitchell Trubisky, which is absolutely in play.
Indianapolis Colts (-4) at Jacksonville Jaguars
Indy has to have revenge on its mind after last year’s Week 18 debacle.
Miami Dolphins at Baltimore Ravens (-4)
The Ravens get their home opener against a talented but flawed Miami team. Expect Tua Tagovailoa to be under immense pressure.
Atlanta Falcons at Los Angeles Rams (-11)
If the Rams aren’t incredibly focused and prepared after Week 1’s disaster, that’s a massive red flag.
Seattle Seahawks at San Francisco 49ers (-8.5)
The 49ers are clearly more talented on both sides of the ball. Should be a runaway at home against Seattle.

Cincinnati Bengals at Dallas Cowboys
The Bengals are the better team, and with Dallas sans Dak Prescott, vastly so.
Houston Texans at Denver Broncos (-10.5)
At home, the Broncos are a different team historically. Houston is in a rebuild.
Arizona Cardinals at Las Vegas Raiders (-3.5)
The Raiders and Cardinals can both score, but Arizona is beat up and now gets a Las Vegas team with playoff aspirations and plenty of firepower.
Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers (-10)
This line could be -17, and the Packers would still be the play. No team has fewer weapons than Chicago, and that’s no match for Aaron Rodgers.
Tennessee Titans at Buffalo Bills (-9.5)
The Bills might be the league’s best team, and while the Titans are well-coached and have talent, playing Buffalo in primetime on the road is a tough draw.
Minnesota Vikings at Philadelphia Eagles (-3)
The Eagles have more talent, a great defense and should handle business to close out the week.
