NFL Week 8 lines: Reason for each underdog to cover
With the NFL Week 8 lines here, we argue why each underdog can cover and potentially win outright this weekend.
Green Bay Packers at Arizona Cardinals (-6.5)
Aaron Rodgers is capable of putting up points on anybody, and the running game with Aaron Jones should help keep Arizona’s offense off the field.
Carolina Panthers at Atlanta Falcons (-3)
Atlanta is always good for allowing games to get close late. The Panthers will have their chance to get a back-door cover, at worst.
Cincinnati Bengals (-10) at New York Jets
Praying is a good thing. Perhaps the best of things.
Los Angeles Rams (-14.5) at Houston Texans
The Rams might get bored, and Tyrod Taylor has a chance to play. That’s about it, because it Los Angeles wants to win by 30 points, it will.
Miami Dolphins at Buffalo Bills (-13.5)
The Dolphins have a good enough defense to cause Buffalo problems. The big question is whether Tua Tagovailoa can make enough plays.

Philadelphia Eagles (-3.5) at Detroit Lions
The Lions fought hard against the Rams and were within a score with two minutes left. If they can get Jalen Hurts to make a few mistakes, Detroit can win.
Pittsburgh Steelers at Cleveland Browns (-3.5)
The Steelers are coming off their bye week, and Ben Roethlisberger has a long history of beating the Browns. Look for Pittsburgh to keep this very close if not win.
San Francisco 49ers (-3.5) at Chicago Bears
The Bears’ defense should be a problem for Jimmy Garoppolo. If Justin Fields can avoid the turnovers, Chicago’s run game will make it a challenge for the Niners.
Tennessee Titans (-1) at Indianapolis Colts
The Colts have won two straight and have gotten healthy. Look for Indy to play inspired ball as it tries to get back into the AFC South race.
Jacksonville Jaguars at Seattle Seahawks (-3)
Geno Smith says hello.
New England Patriots at Los Angeles Chargers (-5.5)
The Patriots beat the Chargers 45-0 last year in Los Angeles. Bill Belichick will make this a tight game.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-5) at New Orleans Saints
Last year, Sean Payton outcoached Bruce Arians twice. At home, he’s capable of doing it again.
Washington Football Team at Denver Broncos (-3)
The Broncos haven’t won a game since Week 3 and Teddy Bridgewater has looked fairly brutal over the last four games.
Dallas Cowboys (-2.5) at Minnesota Vikings
Minnesota has the ability to go score-for-score with the Cowboys, with receivers Adam Thielen and Justin Jefferson, and running back Dalvin Cook at quarterback Kirk Cousins’ disposal.
New York Giants at Kansas City Chiefs (-10)
Have you seen the Chiefs lately? Kansas City turns the ball over and the defense is a mess.
