Raiders star Davante Adams admits being an ‘advocate’ for Josh McDaniels
The Las Vegas Raiders are headed in another direction with Antonio Pierce at the helm as the new head coach.
However, that was preceded by Josh McDaniels’s failed stint, which saw him ousted midway through last season. Star wide receiver Davante Adams touched on the situation during a recent appearance on Uninterrupted’s “The Shop,” where he revealed that he backed McDaniels but felt a head coach change was needed to help push the Raiders on the right track.

“I’m a big ‘it was the coach, the coach that’s why the season was so horrible,” Adams said. “But sometimes in order for the team to set players that you have in the locker room to realize and fulfill their full potential you need somebody that they are willing to play for.
“You seen a difference and I love Josh McDaniels. Like I was personally an advocate for him the whole time, and obviously, there came a time when change needed to be made.”
McDaniels struggled to find his footing with Las Vegas. He joined the franchise after the team reached the playoffs for the first time in over a decade.

His tenure saw the team finish with a 6-11 record in his first campaign, headlined by the benching of Derek Carr at the tail end of the regular season.
It was followed by a rough start to the 2023 season. Last year saw the team fall to a disappointing 3-5 start before he was fired. After his departure, Pierce guided the Raiders to an 8-9 record that featured winning three out of their final four games.
The Raiders are hoping Pierce is the long-term answer that can lead the franchise to sustained success.
