Rams coach Sean McVay lets it be known Jared Goff doesn’t have to prove himself
In their second year under head coach Sean McVay, the Los Angeles Rams
took their level of success to the next level, reaching Super Bowl 53 where they fell just short to the New England Patriots.
In the months since then, there has been scrutiny on Pro Bowl quarterback Jared Goff as his shortcomings in the Super Bowl played on the national stage. Despite that, McVay recently voiced on the Rich Eisen Show that he believes that Goff has proven that he can get the job done and has the complete support from his teammates and coaches alike. “I think he’s already the man. I think he’s had a lot of moments,†McVay said. “His teammates believe in him, his coaches believe in him. I think it’s just continuing to do what you do at a higher level. It’s ‘Can I continue to make great decisions? Can I continue to make throws with accuracy and anticipation?’ I think the thing that was great about him really from the first year we were together to last year is the ownership. We talk about the quarterback being an extension of the coaching staff and I think he did that.â€
Goff has continued to take major strides forward on the field over the last two seasons that has seen him become one of the most promising young quarterbacks in the league. He has helped guide the Rams to back-to-back playoff appearances that saw him lead them to play in the Super Bowl for the first time in 15 years.

However, this outside doubt about his capability has been present solely due to his subpar play in the Super Bowl that saw him struggle to figure the Patriots defense. This has brushed aside the fact that he was a major reason for the team to reach that game and was one of the most productive quarterbacks in the league last year.
As a result, it’s a situation where Goff will have to prove on the field that he can guide the Rams to win a Super Bowl.
