Saints star RB Alvin Kamara set to return from multiples injuries
The New Orleans Saints have struggled to find their footing this season, dropping their last five straight games.
The team’s shortcomings have coincided with star running back Alvin Kamara missing the last four weeks due to knee and hamstring issues. The Pro Bowler has returned to practice this week, taking the field without an injury designation on Friday for the first time in a month.
Head coach Sean Payton voiced that Kamara could have played last week against the Dallas Cowboys but didn’t want him to experience a setback.
“He said I was close?” said Kamara, who was listening in on Payton’s visit with the media Friday afternoon before speaking himself via ESPN. “I mean, close as in I could’ve put my helmet on. I felt good. But I’m definitely healthy, I’m back healthy.
“But I think Sean played it right. I wasn’t mad at him for what he did. He was like, ‘I just think we need another week.’ I’m like, ‘Ahh. I kinda want to help us win.’ But it’s all good.”
The Saints need Kamara to find stability in the backfield. When healthy, he’s been the team’s offensive focal point. New Orleans has moved throughout this season without star wide receiver Michael Thomas.

Kamara will quickly provide a strong source of offensive production. He’s one of the league’s best all-around running backs. The Saints need Kamara to be a prominent factor if they hope to make a legitimate push toward the playoffs over the last five games.
