Running Back T.J. Yeldon Signs with Buffalo Bills
On Monday, the Buffalo Bills agreed to a two-year contract with running back T.J. Yeldon, who formerly played with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Yeldon joins a Bills backfield that includes veterans LeSean McCoy and Frank Gore.
Buffalo has been quite active during free agency, signing several new players on offense including Gore, wide receivers Cole Beasley and John Brown, tight end Tyler Kroft and lineman Quinton Spain, Spencer Long and Mitch Morse.
Yeldon did not end his tenure with Jacksonville on a good note. Yeldon and fellow running back Leonard Fournette were blasted by EVP of football operations Tom Coughlin for the demeanor they expressed on the sidelines during the final game of the 2018 season after each player sat on the team’s bench and appeared to be disinterested throughout the loss to Houston. Yeldon had been active for the game, while Fournette was not.
Coughlin released a team statement following the game calling the two players selfish, disrespectful and the behavior they showed was unbecoming of a pro football player.
Yeldon, who is 25, did little the second half of last season with just 23 carries and 18 receptions over the last eight games. During the first eight games of the season he played a much bigger role in the Jaguars offense when starting for Fournette, who sat out six games with an injured hamstring.
Yeldon was drafted by Jacksonville in the second round of the draft in 2015 with the 36th overall pick and led Jacksonville with 740 yards rushing his rookie season despite playing in just 12 games.
Yeldon’s career stats with the Jaguars totaled 1,892 yards rushing and six touchdowns on the ground and 171 receptions for 1,302 yards with six TDs.
