UFC on FX 7: Mid-Card Preview

UFC on FX 7 takes place this Saturday, January 19, from Sao Paulo, Brazil.  You can catch the action on FX.  Other than the exciting main event between Michael Bisping and Vitor Belfort, the rest of the card is going to make for an exciting night of fights come Saturday.

Daniel Sarafian versus C.B. Dollaway

This fight could be billed as the Rookie versus the veteran.  It could also be told through the narrative as the return of the hometown hero from Brazil.  For the sake of avoiding the dramatics we will simply call the fight Daniel Sarafian versus C.B. Dollaway.

Sarafian is a young rookie who has been looked at as a potential middleweight title contender since he was favored to win The Ultimate Fighter:  Brazil.  An injury knocked him out of contention to win that event and now he makes his big return in him home country to prove himself against the veteran Dollaway.

Dollaway, on the other hand, is coming to the end of his career.  He wants to prove he still has gas in the tank.  We have recently seen Dollaway transform into a more conservative fighter as evident by his last fight and win against Jason Miller at UFC 146.  Many assumed that if he lost that fight he would be forced out of the UFC.  He took the fight to the distance and slow dismantled Miller winning by unanimous decision.

Dollaway likes to go for the take down.  Sarafian will need to try and avoid said take downs and also prepare to defend against Dollaway on the ground, just in case.

Sarafian is the favorite to win this bout with a -180 money line.  The money line to bet on Dollaway sits at +160.

Ben Rothwell versus Gabriel Gonzaga

These two seasoned fighters are going collide this Saturday as both these veteran fighters are known for their heavy hitting.

While neither of these fighters are currently in contention for a title shot a win an impressive performance here could get them in the pack.  Both fighters are considered fighting for their career as Rothwell has been very inconsistent in his wins and losses.  While Gonzaga is coming out of retirement for this fight.

The odds are close in this one.  Rothwell sits at -105.  Gonzaga’s money line is at -115.

Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Thiago Tavares

This is a fight between to up and coming lightweights that will decide which of these fighters will get into the hunt for a lightweight title shot.

Khaib Nurmagomedov has won both his UFC matches since his debut.  He has beaten Kamal Shalorus and Gleison Tibau.  Thiago Tavares has won his last two fights.  This bout will decide who is the better fighter and who is going to take that next step up in the UFC.

The odds favor the newcomer Nurmagomedov with a -185 money line.  Tarves’ money line sits at +150.
